“We are thrilled to receive the Factory of the Future Award 2025. Olivier Carlens, Site Manager at Puratos Lummen, emphasises: “This award validates our efforts and motivates us to continue our journey towards a sustainable and innovative future."
Since 1919, Puratos has been producing ingredients for bakeries, patisserie and chocolate. Today, the company supplies products to more than 100 countries. To weather long journeys, their products must be of the highest quality. That is why Puratos Lummen invests heavily in digital technologies to fine-tune its production processes. Advanced sensors, automation and data analysis are used to optimise both efficiency and quality. Moreover, Puratos is highly committed to ongoing training and development for its employees – the 'food heroes'. “The dedication of our 130 skilled and flexible employees allows us to work with more efficiency," indicates Stefaan Keyzer, Continuous Improvement Manager at Puratos.
Sustainable production
At the same time, the company strives for more sustainable production in order to be carbon neutral by 2025 and achieve water balance by 2030, which would see the company returning as much water to the environment as it uses. Capex manager Stijn Vanherrewegen explains: “In recent years, we’ve made significant efforts in terms of water management, and we’re already recovering more than 50% of our water usage.”
More distinctions
The ingredient manufacturer also stands out in the area of smart and efficient production: the implementation of environmentally friendly methods and innovative production techniques is making operations more effective and sustainable. Maintaining high standards across a comprehensive supply chain is essential to support the company’s global activities.
'Food Innovation for Good'
Puratos Lummen’s achievements reflect the global ‘Food Innovation for Good’ mission, which is founded on the concept that food innovation can make a positive impact, surprise customers and contribute to a healthier planet. By harnessing the potential of food, the company aims to promote health and well-being, enhance taste and contribute to a better future.
