As a supplier of breadcrumbs, among other things, it is important to respond to health trends, says André Vink, commercial director of De Korrel Beheer.
‘The consumer’s growing interest in healthier food is an important trend for De Korrel Beheer, and the company is responding to it with various products,’ says André Vink. He refers to a range of clean-label breadcrumb products, without artificial colourings. ‘We also now have 100% wholemeal breadcrumbs.’
In addition to breadcrumbs, the Dutch company supplies coating solutions, products relating to taste and functional blends for the meat, fish and poultry processing industry and the potato industry.
The Dutch company produces its own products in addition to a number of trade products. The company has IFS, GMP+ and Riskplaza+ and its own R&D department where specialists develop new recipes together with the customer.
Oven and airfryer
Another relatively new product is a special range of coatings for the growing market of snacks that are not fried at home, but are heated in the oven or airfryer for health reasons. As the preparation and processing time is different from frying, appropriate coatings are required. ‘These coatings are suitable for regular batter and breadcrumb lines,’ says Vink.
Vegetarian products
Vegetarian products are also an important growth market for De Korrel Beheer. Many companies are transforming from traditional meat products to hybrid and vegetarian products. ‘We offer various solutions for this in terms of taste and texture,’ concludes the commercial director.
